Zune software update released
Mike A few days back I posted about Microsoft preparing to roll out a software update for the zune before Christmas. Guess what, as per Cesar from zuneinsider they issued a 22 MB update today.
The update does fix a lot of known bugs, improves performance and the zune software installation process. And finally this update will also make zune compatible with vista.
Right now you can only install it via auto-update as it is not yet available for download at zune.net. I’ll post the link once they make it available.
Update: The update is available for download at zune.net. Some users were automatically redirected to an error page saying OS not supported. To solve this problem you can directly download the update via this link.

It displays zunesetup.exe is not a valid Win32 Application. when I try to open the setup.exe file on my Win 2000 OS.
Will 2000 ever be supported?
Is this how Microsoft thanks my loyalty? zune over ipod, 360 over ps3? You see, Linux has an emulator program that allows zune to be used on it, why can’t MS crack open an XPSP2 emulator for the Win 2000 loyals?

I can’t install my Zune Software, and I have tried for days now. It stops installing at 95% ! Extremely annoying. What can I do ?
January 11th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
how do you get started. i’ve done all you say to do.tell me!!!
January 16th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Yeah, We’re having the same problem with install stopping at 95%. We spoke with a rep and they didn’t know how to fix the problem. Reading message boards all over the net there appears to be no solution. It just doesn’t work on some computers and Microsoft is dodging the bullet.

.. Try downloading & installing the setup package found at this info page.
.. For the “needs update” problem, get ALL your Windows updates! All Of Them!! Then use the above package.
.. Supported O/S’s: Win XP w/ Service Pack 2. Win XP Media Center 2005 (if you have 2002, 2003, 2004… you’re SOL). Win Vista, try using Windows Update while the device is connected to your computer to load the software.
.. Close any anti-virus, spyware, and firewall you have running before install.
.. Try a clean boot install. Make sure you follow ALL the steps!
.. For most of you, I’d say do some research, but then y’all’d just go blasting up my butt w/ more whining…
April 6th, 2008 at 6:44 am
dont complain about the whining, thats what this page is for.. my zune will go pretty close to finishing the download, then say some package is necessary and gives me a link.. i download the package and try to redownload, but i get the same message. My comp. just recently crashed and the sw. worked before that. this sucks, i’m very frustrated
