How to bypass the zune DRM

November 28th, 2006 by Mike

Every zune will have the ability to wirelessly share songs, play lists, recordings and pictures with other zunes. But shared songs can be listened to a maximum of three times within three days which ever comes first due to the DRM (digital rights management) restriction.

After that they get automatically deleted or you buy them from the zune marketplace. But with this little hack you can actually bypass the DRM restriction on the device. How? First, setup your zune as a portable hard drive using the mod here.

Then rename all your songs and other files you wish to share to .jpg extension. Now use your zune to send the folder containing these files to your friend along with one valid .jpg file or a real image.

Then your friend needs to sync their zune to their computer and download the folder containing the files and rename them to their correct extension.

Remember to apply the storage hack first or else this mod will not work and you will receive an error. Finally please make any changes at your own risk.
