DivX support for zune software
Mike We all know that zune software does not recognize and transcode DivX, XViD, and MPEG files with .AVI extensions. But there is a work around to this problem.
A zunescene forum member devised a hack; well not actually a hack, but registry tweaks which will enable the zune software to recognize and convert DivX files.
After making changes to the registry you can now drag and drop DivX files into the software. These files will be automatically transcoded to the native WMV format when you sync your zune.
Remember, this hack doesn’t add native DivX support to the software or zune itself.

I don’t understand why every Zune site I come across mentions this registry hack. Hacking the registry is not necessary! Windows Media Encoder (used in the Zune software) will transcode any file type so long as the proper codecs are already installed on the system. Need to turn an Xvid/Divx file into WMV? Install the free Xvid codec and then throw the Xvid file into Windows Media Encoder. Done! No hacking was needed.

Or you can just use a video converter like 3GP Converter ( http://www.divx-digest.com/software/3gp_converter.html ) to convert pretty much any type of video file into a MPEG-4 file. In the setup, just select “Model: MP4, for iPod” and it will convert .avi, .flv, DivX videos and any other video file to work with a zune.
